This is my personal safe space to share my optimistic awkwardness, graphic design entrepreneur hustle, and quirky (mis)adventures as a professor & writer. A space for storytelling my lived experience as a sober-living, dog-loving, chapstick-applying gal with two terrific teenage boys (I can say that ’cause I’m their mama).
The seeds were first planted from a curious ask as I began grad school: “Why am I here?” This is how (and when) I began to understand addiction, toxic positivity, and the resilience and mindfulness tools within us that can lead to physical, mental, and spiritual health. How to build a safe space where a creative career and life can align honestly and authentically. How through work like recovery, we are responsible for cultivating and creating our own gratitude.
Ground & Gratitude is a new podcast created to continue the addicted artist conversation from my grad school thesis. I am a designer with over one year in recovery. This podcast is created with compassion from within a safe space I now hold for myself and others looking for a better way to live this beautiful life clean and sober. It will be a space where I will share and interview folks, laugh a lot, cry a little maybe, explore, expand, and let honest conversations in resilience, recovery, and rituals ebb and flow.
“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.”
– Bessell van der Kolk
